850

Big Woodsman upgraded

The big Woodsman processing head has gone through its first major upgrade in eight years, now re-launched as the 850 model.

While the main architecture and innovative features of the very successful Woodsman PRO 800 have been retained, the new 850 is substantially improved, with the aim of increasing reliability and production.

Key changes include a new, slightly larger frame design that allows more harvest tilt (146deg) and improved ‘stop’ positions, together with an increase in the de-limb arm opening, which now maxes out to 900mm – a 100mm improvement.

Also upgraded are both saws. The ¾” main saw now has a larger 60cc motor and has an increased maximum cut diameter of 930mm, up from 880mm. The ¾” topping saw also has an increased maximum cutting diameter, rising to 590mm from 470mm.

As well as increasing the saw motor power, the drive motor feed speed has also been boosted from 3.2m/sec to 3.5m/sec and the feed wheels now feature reversible mountings to enable more even wear and prolong service life .

Other changes include a new length measuring encoder, together with a larger diameter measuring rim and new diameter measuring system. The

The weight of the 850 now sits at 4880kg, including the knuckle, which is increased to cope with the punishment from processing larger stems.
